As a young teenager, I worked with a Psychologist who helped me navigate my emotions during a family member’s cancer diagnosis. It was through my own therapeutic journey that I learned the importance of having someone to walk with us during dark and frightening times.

Throughout my early career, I worked with people living with Chronic Illnesses (HIV and AIDS), Employee Assistance Programs, elementary and junior high-aged children and adolescents and Child and Family Services. More recently, I have worked primarily with adults facing depression, anxiety, addictions, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I have experience working in a hospital, health care, and school and community-based settings. I also have extensive experience assisting victims of crime and tragedy.

My approach is very client-focused, meaning I meet every individual where they are and go from there. My role is to create a supportive and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe, heard and validated. During your journey, you can expect to be actively engaged and encouraged to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences openly and honestly during your process.

My treatment is rooted in Solution-Focused (SFBT) and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) techniques. Part of Solution-Focused Therapy is to shift the focus from what is currently causing a person discomfort to instead focus on what is going well, which can create positive change in our lives. Have you ever noticed that when you are looking to purchase a new car, you see that make and model everywhere? It’s because we focus on what we see. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy’s principle of “Change the way you feel by changing the way you think” pairs well with Solution-Focused processing because when we shift our ways of thinking, we can start to see changes in how we view ourselves and the world around us.

Though my services are grounded in Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I draw from many other approaches and training that allow us to collaborate and create a custom treatment plan for your unique goals and situation. If you are struggling with negative thought patterns, feeling stuck, or experiencing difficulty coping with life’s challenges, I may be able to help. It would be my privilege to walk alongside you on your therapy journey and provide the support you need to thrive.
