Our Procedures

a sacred journey psychological services inc. remains committed to maintaining the health and safety of our clients, clinicians and community members. Click on the headers below to learn more about what we are doing and what you can do to stay safe.

Cleaning

Our cleaning procedures are as follows:

Clinicians are expected to disinfect touch-points at the beginning of their shift, after each in-person appointment and again at the end of their shift:

  • Front door (inside and out);
  • Hand railing & door knobs;
  • Reception desk & filing cabinet drawer pulls;
  • Light switches (beginning and end of shift);
  • Waiting room chairs and table (after each use);
  • Office chairs, couch, tables;
  • Bathroom taps, toilet flusher;
  • Hand sanitizer dispensers.

Clinicians will utilize a “wipe twice” method as per Alberta Health’s recommendations. For disinfection and sanitization, a sacred journey psychological services inc. uses Simple Green d PRO 3 PLUS™. Following the manufacture instructions, all touch-point surfaces will be saturated in cleaning solution and soaked for the required 10-minute disinfection period.

Clients are encouraged to discuss procedures with their clinician or administration should they have any questions or concerns.

Mandatory Health Screening

A screening survey will be sent out automatically to you 24-hours before your session. You must complete this mandatory screening. If the screening has not been completed before your session, it may be rescheduled as an online session.

Illness Policy

Any client or clinician exhibiting any symptom of illness will be asked to pivot to an online session.

Informed Consent for Return to In-Person

All clients returning to in-person sessions or beginning in-person sessions will be required to complete our supplementary consent form. The purpose of the consent form is to outline a sacred journey psychological services inc.’s, Alberta Health Services and the College of Alberta Psychologists’ procedures and policies for returning to in-person sessions. Additionally, the consent forms will also inform clients of adjustments that have been made to a sacred journey psychological services inc.’s policies.

Changes to In-Person Sessions

  • Any client or clinician exhibiting any symptoms of illness will be asked to pivot to online services;
  • Our waiting area is closed and the door will be locked between sessions;
  • To reduce the chance of spread, you will remove your outdoor shoes upon entry to the clinic;
  • Clients and clinicians will keep a distance of 2 metres (6 feet) without physical contact;
  • You may be asked to wear a mask/PPE if there are any symptomatic concerns;
  • Clients are encouraged to bring their own mask/PPE.

Please note that the above precautions may change in the event that local, provincial or federal orders or guidelines are published. If that happens, you will be contacted by our Office Manager or your psychologist.

Session Recommendations:

Due to increased sanitization requirements, we have removed any toys with soft surfaces. We encourage minors to bring along a few of their favourite toys or games along with a blanket and pillow.

For any minors using the sand-tray, at the end of the session all toys are sanitized and the sand-tray is placed on a “24-hour time-out” and will not be used more than once per day. We have additional sand-trays to rotate in for those that utilize them.

Cancellation Policy

Due to a sacred journey psychological services inc.’s growing health and safety standards as well as our increased screening, cleaning procedures, and administrative requirements, we now require 48-hour notice to cancel or reschedule a session.

Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole that could have been filled by another. You are responsible for notifying your psychologist at least 48 hours in advance of a scheduled appointment if you will miss that appointment.

Missed appointments, or appointments cancelled without 48 hours notice, will be charged the full session fee.
