What is an Intern/Psychology Student?
As part of completing their Master’s Degree, psychology students must complete a mandatory practicum/internship. Interns receive a minimum of one hour of evaluation and supervision from a qualified Registered Psychologist per week. This supervision may be live (the supervisor is present for sessions with the client), via observation (video feed), video or audio recordings, or case file review.
Students are limited to specific age groups and presenting concerns. Interns at a sacred journey provide clients with a free intake interview to affirm therapeutic fit. These intake interviews are completed by phone and typically take between 30-minutes to 1-hour.
Services provided by Interns or psychology students are offered at reduced rates and are not covered by insurance plans or benefit packages. Fees are tax-deductible as a medical expense on your income tax return. Please keep copies of your receipts for such purposes.
